Traveling on the road for leisure is one of the best parts of living in such a diverse country, from its historic sites of natural wonders. Most choose to purchase a recreational vehicle to be comfortable on such a long journey, and it’s true that most don’t stay in the driveway for long. For this reason, it’s important to figure out the right kind for you and your family to get the most from each road trip. A travel trailer keeps the budget down on the initial purchase, while also allowing you the freedom of your own vehicle once you reach your destination. If you are considering one of the lightweight travel trailers as your own personal RV, be certain to understand the difference between the models to find the right one.
1.) Look at your budget to see how much you can truly afford, but also be certain to stick to that number once you head to the RV dealer. Most range between $20,000 and $30,000, but there are obviously outliers at some dealers. You want to make sure you aren’t stuck with payments that prohibit you from enjoying the trailer.
2.) Your car, SUV or Truck has a hitch weight called the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). This number determines how much your vehicle will be comfortable towing. Each travel trailer will have a specific weight, plus the amount of gear you will carry; this number will allow you to you purchase the right size.
3.) Many of these travel trailers offer plenty of options in terms of sleeping area and kitchen space. Keep in mind that with every budget you may not be able to get all of the items on your wish list, so determine what you want the most in a trailer to make it easier to find the right model.
