Can Am Commander Brake Upgrades

In the list of aftermarket upgrades for UTVs, brake upgrades are nearly non-existent. While the majority of owners don’t think twice about adding harnesses, a fire extinguisher and other safety upgrades, few consider the benefit of adding more heavy duty brake components that can often prevent an accident in the first place. Streamline Brake Products has recently acquired well-known ATV racing parts manufacturer Trinity Racing, but they are still in the business of making some of the highest quality brake systems for ATVs and UTVs and their products range from brake lines to rotors to “big brake” kits that utilize larger 270mm rotors. We have used these systems on our Can Am Commanders, and have been very impressed by our results. For these and the best Can Am Commander accessories on the market, visit

Their best selling brake components are front and rear steel braided brake lines that use PVC coated UV protected stainless steel lines, and triple chrome plated fittings. These lines include 2” longer master cylinder lines, and longer length lines are available for long travel suspensions. The lines are covered by a lifetime warranty, and their added security makes them cheap insurance for any UTV.

Also by Streamline, factory replacement rotors use 420 high grade carbon steel construction, and every rotor is laser cut and diamond ground to make them perfectly flat. Each rotor is heat treated and CAD designed, and the built in cooling slots help dissipate heat and prevent dirt accumulation between the calipers and the rotors. Each rotor has been proven in years of racing use and they are also considerably lighter than stock.

Streamline also makes a complete big brake kit for the Commander, using 270mm rotors, brackets to relocate the stock calipers on the larger rotors. This brake system is excellent for racing, intense trail riding and dune riding. Larger rotors not only offer improved braking distance, they also reduce brake fade that is an inherent consequence of high intensity driving.
